A mixture of World Cup fever, love of craft beer, and a diverse set of live music made for a winning formula for downtown Shawnee’s first Americana & Ales festival on Saturday.
Festival Highlights
A unique beer and music festival for the area, aimed at courting both residents in the area and people visiting from out of town for the World Cup, combined special brews with a mixture of artists ranging from folk to country to harp-centric vocal music.
A Johnson County native, harpist-singer-songwriter Calvin Arsenia joked during his set that the festival was like the now-defunct Boulevardia but less hot.
“I love the area. I love the walkability. I love the little booths. This is awesome,” he said.
