More than three weeks after Sen. Mitch McConnell was hospitalized, his office is still not providing any new details about his condition. His office is instead referring to the same statement it released several days ago.
Condition and Recovery
On Sunday, McConnell’s office was contacted asking for an update on the senator’s condition, whether he remains hospitalized and whether the office could provide an updated statement. In a response Monday morning, a spokesperson said they’d be sure to keep us updated before directing us to a statement originally released on Thursday.
Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital. The Senator continues to improve, and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.
McConnell was first admitted to the hospital on June 14. At the time, a spokesperson said only that the longtime senator was receiving excellent care and did not disclose the reason for his hospitalization.
Emergency Medical Dispatch Audio
The latest response from his office comes days after the release of emergency medical dispatch audio from a call to McConnell’s home on the same day he was hospitalized. During the audio, a dispatcher and crew at the scene could be heard referencing an unconscious person experiencing cardiac arrest with CPR in progress. McConnell’s office has not yet commented on the audio.
