Safety protocols at two El Paso Independent School District campuses were lifted Thursday, April 30, after precautionary measures were put in place earlier in the day.
Jefferson Silva High School was placed on a “secure” protocol earlier Thursday. School officials described the step as precautionary while they assessed the situation.
El Paso High School was briefly placed on “lockdown” before officials changed its status to “secure.” The transition happened as administrators gathered more information.
The precautions applied only to those two campuses and were lifted later the same day. District staff said the measures were taken out of an abundance of caution.
Students and staff were allowed to resume normal routines after the protocols ended. The district said it would continue monitoring and take further steps if needed.
