Schneider Foundation Awards Grants to Local Schools

The Schneider Foundation recently announced the awarding of 15 grants, totaling $1,160,000, to several area public and private schools. The grants were awarded by the foundation’s Board of Directors, who evaluated proposals based on alignment with the foundation’s mission, potential impact for students, organizational sustainability, and meaningful outcomes.

Grants Support Educational Initiatives

The grants awarded to public and private schools this year support a variety of educational initiatives, including advanced academic programming, gifted education, college and career readiness, scholarships, and innovative learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom. The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools received the largest amount across three grants: $270,000 for the district’s International Baccalaureate Program, $50,000 for the foundation to award later this year to either International Baccalaureate or SPS Choice programs, and $11,500 for the Academy of Exploration, a STEM-focused magnet school in the SPS Choice system for students in fourth through sixth grades.

Other grant recipients include The Summit Preparatory School, Greenwood Laboratory School, Discovery School at the Center, Drury University’s Center for Gifted Education Summerscape and Leadership Academy, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield After-School Program, and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for Young People Concert & Ensembles in School.
