The Rucker Fire, currently burning in the Coronado National Forest in southeast Arizona, has prompted the evacuation of several campsites near Rucker Lake. The National Forest Service (NFS) has reported that the fire has spread across 75 acres, affecting campsites at Raspberry Ridge Trail #282, Monte Vista Trail #221, and the Raspberry/Rucker Trailhead.

Authorities have advised visitors to avoid the area due to increased traffic on Rucker Canyon Road, and FSR 74E remains closed at Walnut Grove Campground. The wildfire began on Monday in a remote canyon within the Chiricahua Wilderness, and efforts to contain it are ongoing.

Firefighters have been working tirelessly, securing the perimeter and monitoring for spot fires throughout the night. As of now, the fire is at zero percent containment. Additional ground crews and air resources are being deployed to assist with suppression efforts and to complete accurate mapping of the affected area.

The area is currently under Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) to ensure the safety of manned aircraft and personnel on the ground. Fire officials have warned that individuals who interfere with wildfire suppression efforts, including those using unmanned aerial systems (UAS), may face civil penalties up to $25,000 and potential criminal prosecution.

Fortunately, no structures are currently threatened by the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by fire officials.
