Rockwall County Library Hosts Holocaust Survivor Art

The Rockwall County Library will host a powerful and moving art exhibit this fall featuring the work of Holocaust survivor and artist Sofia Davidson. The exhibit will be on display from Aug. 13 through Oct. 14, 2026, offering the community an opportunity to experience a unique visual narrative of life before, during, and after the Holocaust.

Community Invited to Attend Exhibit Opening

To mark the opening of the exhibit, the Rockwall County Library will host a special art reception and presentation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. Community members are invited to attend, learn more about Davidson’s story, and explore the collection.

According to organizers, Davidson’s artwork provides a deeply personal perspective on the Holocaust and its lasting impact on survivors. Her paintings portray the realities of Jewish life before the war, the hardships and trauma experienced during the Holocaust, and the challenges of rebuilding life afterward.

The Sofia Davidson Collection is curated by Suzanne Horwich and is made available to communities across Texas through partnerships supported by the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission. The exhibit is provided free of charge to host locations.
