Fort Smith’s frontier history is coming to life with three free public performances of The Western District over the next two weekends. The production, written and produced by Dr. Brandon Chase Goldsmith, explores the city’s colorful past during the early 1870s.
Performance Schedule
The first free performance will take place on June 20 at 11 a.m. during the Chaffee Crossing Food & Artisan Market at JKC Cellars. The following weekend, The Western District will move to the U.S. Marshals Museum for two free performances on June 26 and June 27 at 2:30 p.m.
The production follows real-life events and personalities tied to the city’s role as the gateway to Indian Territory, blending history, drama, humor, romance, and local storytelling. Additional performances are scheduled for July 10 and 11 at the Fort Smith Museum of History, July 16 at The Vault in Van Buren, July 19 at The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, and July 25 at Brew on the Border in Fort Smith.
