FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After nearly two decades of summer music at Union Street Market, the free concert series created by the Allen County Public Library is relocating to a new venue and adopting a fresh name. The series, long known as Rock the Plaza, will now be presented as Rock the Works and will take place at the outdoor Weigand Yard on the campus of Electric Works.
New venue, same community focus
Electric Works, a mixed‑use development that includes both indoor and outdoor event spaces, will host the concerts. The outdoor area at Weigand Yard provides a spacious setting for families, seniors, and music lovers to gather, while the venue’s indoor facilities give organizers the flexibility to move performances inside if weather turns unfavorable.
“Our goal is to build on the history of the concert series while bringing it to a new audience,” said Kelly Geiser, owner and director of venue operations for Four‑Thirty Venue Group at Electric Works. Geiser emphasized that the move is intended to preserve the series’ community‑building mission and to expand its reach within Fort Wayne.
Program schedule for 2026
Two performances have already been scheduled for the remainder of 2026. On September 27, local favorites Alicia Pyle and the Locals will take the stage, followed by the Todd Harrold Band on October 11. Both shows will be free to the public, continuing the series’ tradition of offering accessible live music for all residents.
Support from the library and tourism officials
The announcement was made during Visit Fort Wayne’s annual “Be a Tourist” event, where officials from Electric Works, the Allen County Public Library (ACPL), and Visit Fort Wayne gathered with Kyle Haller, a longtime organizer of the series. ACPL Executive Director Susan P. Baier highlighted the series’ role in supporting local musicians and fostering community togetherness over the years.
“Rock the Plaza has been a summer tradition that brings our community together and showcases the talent of Indiana musicians,” Baier said. “We’re excited that the series will continue to thrive in its new home.”

Electric Works officials reached out to the library after the series’ July performance, which was originally slated to be its final show. The partnership aims to keep the concerts alive, offering a reliable venue that can adapt to seasonal weather challenges.
