The Cincinnati Reds activated shortstop Elly De La Cruz from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. De La Cruz, 24, had been on the injured list since straining his right hamstring on May 31.
De La Cruz batted .250 with a home run in his three-game rehabilitation assignment at Louisville. He is batting .280 with 12 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases in 58 games this season.
The Reds also optioned outfielder Will Benson to Triple-A Louisville. Benson, 28, batted .188 with three home runs and six RBIs in 51 games this season.
Reds closer Emilio Pagan, who has been on the injured list since straining his left hamstring on May 4, threw his second live batting practice session on Monday. Pagan is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Thursday at Louisville.
