When TxDOT announced an expansion of Highway 121 that would affect the longtime campus of Fort Worth‑based Recovery Resource Council, the nonprofit was ready. Years of planning allowed the organization to purchase adjacent land and turn a required move into a lasting investment.

Preparedness paid off

CEO Eric Niedermayer explained that the council had anticipated the highway project for more than a decade, buying property behind and across the street from its former site. That foresight enabled the construction of a centrally located, energy‑efficient building that better serves the community.

Seamless transition

In 2025 the council began demolition, construction and a temporary relocation. More than 60 staff members moved to a provisional office while counseling, veteran support, recovery programs and prevention services continued without interruption.

New headquarters

On June 1, 2026 the council opened its new Fort Worth campus at 157 Blandin Street. Built by West Fork Construction, the 9,900‑square‑foot facility consolidates staff and services into a secure, accessible hub for mental‑health, prevention, recovery and housing assistance.

The ribbon‑cutting ceremony on August 26 attracted over 100 community leaders, elected officials, donors, board members and supporters, marking both the opening and the council’s 80th anniversary.

Looking ahead

The move is a cornerstone of the council’s “Transforming for Tomorrow” campaign, a $5.1 million effort that also includes upcoming renovations to its Dallas office later this year. The new Fort Worth site positions the organization to meet the behavioral‑health needs of North Texans for generations.
