A 60-day rabies alert has been issued for parts of Seminole County, Florida, after a confirmed case of rabies in a raccoon found near the Tuskawilla area.

The alert affects areas bounded by E. Florida 434 to the North, Greenbriar Lane to the East, Dinero Drive to the South, and Dunmar Circle to the West.
Residents are advised to keep pets under direct supervision and on a leash, and to keep livestock secured on their property. If an animal bites a pet or livestock, owners should seek veterinary assistance immediately and contact Seminole County Animal Services at 407-665-5201.
Residents are also warned to avoid contact with wild or stray animals and not to handle, feed, or attract them with outdoor pet food, open garbage cans, or other sources of food. If someone has been bitten or scratched by a wild or domestic animal, they should seek medical attention and report the injury to the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County by calling 407-665-3243.
