Grant Program Details
The grant program would help schools offset the costs associated with robotics programs, such as equipment and competition fees. Schools would be required to provide a 25% match for any funds provided and find a local sponsor. They would also need to participate in at least one in-person competition.
Robinson’s district includes Upper St. Clair, and he recognized the school’s robotics team, Team TeraBridges, which has been successful in national and international competitions. State Rep. Natalie Mihalek also attended the event and expressed her support for the bill.
The legislation aims to give students across the state greater access to learning opportunities in fields related to science, technology, engineering, and math. By expanding access to robotics programs, the bill’s sponsors hope to strengthen the community and inspire the next generation of problem solvers.
