Crash Details
The pilot had flown the gyrocopter from Meadowlake Airport in Peyton to Central Colorado Airport in Buena Vista four days before the accident. On the morning of the crash, the pilot planned to fly to Davis Airfield in Colorado Springs and then return to Peyton.
A woman reported hearing the gyrocopter’s engine struggling around 8:00 a.m. and saw the engine stop before the gyrocopter fell through the trees. The pilot was airlifted to a hospital but died five days later.
