Palm Beach County commissioners voted 5-1 to deny the expansion of a proposed AI data center in western Palm Beach County after a lengthy 12-hour meeting.
Future of Project Tango
According to Dr. Mark McNees, a data center expert at Florida State University, the developer still has past approval to build a data center in the county. The vote did not completely end the project, but rather killed the project’s expansion. The applicant can now come back and resubmit at a later date.
Only one commissioner, Maria Marino, voted in favor of the project. She believes a data center is something the county needs, citing the potential for economic growth and job creation.
