A trip to take out the trash turned into two hours of horror for a Pennsylvania woman when a man armed with a knife allegedly robbed her and forced her to drive him to buy drugs.
Incident Details
The incident started around 10 p.m. on June 5, 2026, along the 700 block of Bethlehem Pike in Erdenheim, about 13 miles north of Philadelphia. Police say 33-year-old Michael Charles Gordon approached the unnamed victim outside her home and threatened her with a knife. He reportedly made her search her car for money before forcing her back inside her apartment to hand over her cash and ATM card.
Gordon then allegedly ordered the woman to get back in her car and drive him around to find an ATM. The drive lasted for more than two hours. Investigators say Gordon directed her into Philadelphia, where he bought drugs, and then had her drive to a spot where he thought his car was parked. By the time they arrived, his vehicle had already been towed due to a prior complaint.
The terrifying drive finally ended when Gordon had the victim take him to the Willow Grove area of Abington Township. Before getting out of the vehicle, he allegedly threatened the woman and warned her not to go to the police.
Arrest and Charges
Springfield detectives were notified on 6/8/2026 after a victim advocate brought her into the station. Within 24 hours, two search warrants and an arrest warrant were executed by Springfield Township detectives, with the assistance of the Abington Township Police Department SWAT team and detectives.
Following the SWAT operation, Gordon was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. He was denied bail and is currently facing 17 new charges, including kidnapping, robbery, burglary, and theft.
According to authorities, Gordon was already out on bail and waiting to be sentenced for several robberies he committed in 2025. His next court hearing is set for June 23.
