The Harvest Regional Food Bank in Texarkana, Arkansas, is seeking volunteers to help harvest two acres of donated fresh corn from a generous farmer in Little River County. Volunteers are needed on Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until noon.
Helping Families in Need
Executive Director Camille Wrinkle says they typically gather about 40,000 pounds of corn, which is an entire 18-wheeler truck load. The corn will be distributed to over 90 pantries across a 10-county region.
According to Wrinkle, this donation is a great gift for the food bank to receive and provide to families who may not otherwise have access to fresh produce and nutritious food. Before heading out to the corn field, volunteers will meet at the Highway 41 rest stop in Foreman.
