Ozzy Osbourne Defies Doctors

Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary heavy metal star, played his final concert in his hometown of Birmingham, England, despite being told by doctors he was too sick to perform. According to his widow, Sharon Osbourne, doctors informed Ozzy two weeks before the show that he was dying and should not go ahead with the concert.

A Gift to His Fans

Sharon Osbourne described the concert as a ‘gift’ that Ozzy got to enjoy in his final days. The event, which benefited various UK charities, featured Ozzy reunited with the original members of Black Sabbath, as well as other rock and metal legends like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Alice in Chains.

Ozzy, who had Parkinson’s Disease and was 76 when he passed away, performed while sitting in a black, throne-like chair. Sharon said that for the last two weeks of his life, Ozzy was the happiest she had ever seen him, and the concert was a huge boost for him at a difficult time.

A Tribute to Ozzy

Sharon Osbourne was in Birmingham to mark the city’s first-ever Ozzy Day, in memory of her husband. She said Ozzy was proud of his humble beginnings and never forgot his roots, even after rising to global stardom.

When asked what her message would be for fans on the anniversary of Ozzy’s passing, Sharon said: ‘As Ozzy would say, ‘When you want to remember me, just yank up the music really loud, as loud as you can get it, and just head bang.”
