Tahoma 31’s Success
Tahoma 31, first bred in 2007, has gained recognition for its performance and versatility. It has been used on a number of NFL team fields and also across various other sports.
According to Dennis Martin, a turfgrass extension specialist at OSU, Tahoma 31’s design has been key to its success, making it suitable for a variety of sports and high-quality turfgrass areas. Its superior cold hardiness and water use efficiency make it ideal for transitional climate zones.
When FIFA researchers evaluated Tahoma 31 for the 2026 World Cup, Martin said its selection was both surprising and expected.
