The trial for Javier Rosado-Martinez, accused of raping and killing 93-year-old Dolores Padilla Marero, began Monday morning in Orlando. Padilla Marero had just returned home after celebrating her 93rd birthday with her family when the incident happened at the St. Joseph Garden senior living complex in East Orange County.

Investigation Details

Prosecutors said Rosado-Martinez, who was her daughter’s boyfriend, entered the residence before he was accused of raping and killing her. Investigators found that Rosado-Martinez had been watching older adult pornography for hours before and after the killing, including searches for videos depicting elderly individuals.

Prosecutors believe Rosado-Martinez strangled Padilla Marero with pantyhose, an item featured in at least one of the videos he watched. They are seeking the death penalty for Rosado-Martinez.
