On Sunday, June 14, the Springfield Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team responded to Lake Springfield for reports of four individuals in need of rescue. One female was rescued and taken to Cox Hospital. As of 8 p.m. Sunday, three people were still unaccounted for.
Three members of the water rescue team were injured during the rescue and transported to Cox Hospital. Access to Lake Springfield and the Boathouse was closed as of Sunday night.
