Oklahoma City’s favorite athletes, including Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield and Thunder All-Star Jalen Williams, are investing in the professional soccer club and downtown stadium district development.
Stadium Development
The $121 million stadium, expected to open in 2028, will be home to professional soccer and football. It is funded by Oklahoma City’s MAPS 4 initiative and was designed by the firm Populous.
Mayfield said in a news release, “Oklahoma made me who I am, as a player and as a person. The state shows up for its teams, and that energy is going to translate to professional soccer.”
Christian Kanady, the founding partner and CEO of Echo, stated, “We have always believed sports can be a catalyst for community and economic growth, and to have athletes of this caliber put their names and capital behind that vision is extraordinary.”
