The Ohio House voted on Wednesday to pass Katelyn’s Law, a measure named after Katelyn Markham, a young woman from Fairfield who disappeared from her home in 2011. Her remains were later found in Indiana. John Carter was convicted in her death, but prosecutors say they were limited in the charges they could file because Carter wasn’t indicted for 10 years.

Katelyn’s Law would change that by removing the statute of limitations for crimes related to concealing a death. The bill now heads to the Ohio Senate.
