A home in Ocala was destroyed in a suspicious fire early Friday. Crews responded around 6:30 a.m. to the 2000 block of SW 4th Street after hearing that a residential structure was engulfed in flames.
The unoccupied one-story home was ablaze with flames burning through the roof. Multiple fire engines worked quickly to attack the fire, securing a hydrant and dousing the home from multiple sides.
Firefighters had successfully knocked down the fire by 6:45 a.m., with the situation brought under control several minutes later. No injuries were reported, but firefighters said preliminary reports from bystanders suggested foul play.
The Florida State Fire Marshal and Ocala Police Department are investigating the fire, with the Fire Prevention Division and Marion County Fire Rescue also participating in the response.
