Norton Children’s Hospital has expanded its support for cancer patients and their families with a newly renovated space. The re-imagined David & Carol Tinkle family room is located inside the cancer unit and includes a renovated kitchen, exercise room, and laundry room.
A Place for Patients and Families
This will serve as a place for patients, families, and caregivers to come together, recharge, and support one another in the hospital. The renovation was funded through donations, such as the one made by nonprofit Super Drew’s Crew.
The nonprofit was started by Drew Esposito and his family. Drew is a former patient at Norton Children’s Hospital for medulloblastoma. His father, Jeremy Esposito, said spaces like the family room are important for patients and their families undergoing treatment.
‘We talk a lot about the clinical side of healing, but there’s an emotional and a spiritual side that people need people. And this is a great space to kind of bring all, all that together,’ Esposito said.
