A New York couple, Dorisha Rodriguez and Dominic Soto, have welcomed a 14-pound baby girl, Yemaya India Soto Rodriguez, born on June 9, one day after her due date. The baby is one of the largest newborns their local hospital in Buffalo, New York, has ever delivered.
A Big Baby
Rodriguez and Soto knew their baby girl was going to be big, but 14 pounds big? The last growth scan they had, which was the Friday before Rodriguez delivered, estimated that the baby would be 13.4 pounds. However, they were very wrong.
"I was very ecstatic to have such a big, beautiful baby," said Dominic Soto, the baby's father. Yemaya is healthy, but she had a short NICU stay just to monitor her breathing.
The baby is already wearing size 3 to 6 months and size 2 diapers, and her parents are giving away the newborn and 0-3-months sized baby clothes they received as gifts to a friend who had a preemie.
