Yukon Freedom Fest, one of the metro’s largest Fourth of July celebrations, starts Friday with two days of family-friendly activities and surprises. The event features live music, water slides, a petting zoo, and food, offering fun for all ages.
Community Efforts
Miranda Renteria, with the City of Yukon, said the event is ‘filled with fun for the whole family.’ The community’s efforts to make the event inclusive are highlighted, with Renteria stating, ‘Everybody truly cares to make sure that everyone in Yukon, no matter the age, no matter if they want to travel from somewhere else that’s not Yukon, we welcome everybody.’
Drone shows will also be featured, with Friday’s show serving as a tribute to veterans and Saturday’s themed around America’s 250th anniversary and Route 66. Organizers have planned new surprises this year, including an Oklahoma Air National Guard F-16 flyover.
With thousands expected to attend, city officials have arranged additional parking options, including a shuttle running from Yukon Middle School to Chisholm Trail Park each night from 4 p.m. to midnight.
