Six pools in Jefferson County, Louisville, were shut down after the water tested positive for harmful bacteria ahead of the holiday weekend. The pools had two consecutive positive water test samples for bacteria.
Affected Pools
The affected pools include The Landings, Crowne at Summit Apartments, Asbury Park, Bridgepoint Swim & Tennis Club pool and wading pool, Wolf Creek pool, and Sutherland pool and wading pool.
The bacteria found can cause vomiting, diarrhea, skin infections, eye and ear infections. The pools will remain closed until Louisville Metro Health & Wellness has received a sample that tests negative for the bacteria.
Pool testing is conducted once a week in Jefferson County. An official from Louisville Metro Health & Wellness said these pool facilities contacted private labs to collect a new pool sample. If those samples come back negative, an official said the pool can reopen over the weekend.
