A new custom quilt shop, City Made Quilts, is set to open on Geneva Avenue in the Excelsior neighborhood of San Francisco in August. The shop, owned by Sarah Cain, aims to fill a gap in the city’s fabric landscape by providing quilting supplies and services. Cain, a licensed marriage and family therapist, has been sewing quilts for over a decade and is excited to share her passion with the community.

In other news, the Excelsior is hosting various events, including ‘Goal Rush watch parties’ for the FIFA World Cup, and a street cleanup event on June 27. The Family Connections Center is also organizing a Friday Family Fun Night on June 26, where children and their families can participate in special projects together.
The City Made Quilts shop is one of the new businesses benefiting from a city grant program, which offers between $50,000 and $100,000 to fill empty storefronts along the Excelsior’s commercial corridors. Cain’s shop will offer custom quilts, quilting supplies, and classes, and will be located at 1021 Geneva Ave.
