John Carlson, the town chair of the New Haven Republican Party, is calling on residents to get involved in local politics. In a recent conversation on WNHH FM’s “Dateline New Haven,” Carlson urged listeners to contact their local representatives and demand accountability.
Carlson’s Platform
Carlson outlined his party’s principles, including holding off on further expansion of Tweed New Haven Airport, promoting school choice, and lowering taxes. He also emphasized the need for more diverse views and accountability in the city’s government.
Carlson, a 57-year-old fourth-grade teacher, has been involved in local politics since the mid-2010s. He’s had conservative views since the Reagan administration and is determined to bring change to New Haven. Despite the challenges, Carlson remains committed to his cause, saying, “Every politician needs to be challenged. The Board of Alders, the mayor, everyone needs to have to step up, explain what they’re doing, why they did it, how it’s helping, and stand by their record.”
The New Haven Republican Party is supporting two local candidates in the upcoming election: Anthony Acri, who’s seeking the 97th General Assembly District state representative seat, and Christopher Lancia, who’s taking on U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro.
