Residents of Aurora have a chance to help neighbors in need as the Naperville Sunrise Rotary Club organizes a holiday‑season donation drive for the West Suburban Community Pantry. The pantry provides essential food and hygiene supplies to more than 1,000 households each week across DuPage and Will Counties, making the collection a timely way for local families to stretch their budgets during the cost‑of‑living crunch.
The drive will take place on Friday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in front of the Naperville Country Club at 25W570 Chicago Avenue. Volunteers are asking donors to bring paper goods such as paper towels, napkins, aluminum foil, plastic wrap and food‑storage bags, as well as personal‑hygiene items like facial tissue, toilet paper, soap, shampoo and feminine hygiene products. “Most people don’t think to donate kitchen and personal items that can be expensive and are not covered by SNAP benefits,” explained Deb Newman, Sunrise Rotary Community Service Chair.
The West Suburban Community Pantry, led by CEO Maeven Sipes, reports a recent surge in new families seeking assistance. “As we enter the season of giving, this is a simple but powerful way to make a real impact,” Sipes said, emphasizing that every contribution, whether a single item or a larger collection organized by friends or neighbors, helps families facing the holiday season’s financial pressures.
In addition to the Nov. 6 drive, the pantry accepts drop‑offs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at its Woodridge location: 6809 Hobson Valley Drive, Suite 118. Those unable to attend the morning collection can still support the effort during these regular hours.
What’s next: Aurora residents are encouraged to bring the requested items to the Nov. 6 drive or to the pantry’s weekday drop‑off window. Continued community participation will help the pantry sustain its service to over a thousand households throughout the holiday season and beyond.
