A unique naming tradition has brought a Michigan family closer together. Britney Donley, a 37-year-old mom, named her first child Sunday after asking a nurse what day it was during labor. Each of her subsequent children was born on the day that would become their name: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
A Family Bond
Donley wanted her children to have a special bond, and the naming tradition has become a conversation starter. When the family shares their lives online, people often comment on how special the names are. The children have grown to love their unique names, and the family has become closer as a result.
Donley’s oldest child, Sunday, is now 18 and hopes to become a teacher. The other children are Monday, 16; Tuesday, 10; Wednesday, 5; Thursday, 4; Friday, 2; and Saturday, 17 months old. Donley plans to expand her family in the future, possibly through foster care or adoption, and has already thought about what she would name those children – after the months of the year.
