Moeller High School’s baseball team, known for its rich history and nine state championships, has rebounded from early-season challenges to claim a regional title and set its sights on a tenth state championship.
Regional Title Win
The Crusaders have won nine straight games by a combined score of 85-9, culminating in a long-awaited regional title. They beat top-seeded Centerville 7-0 in the regional final and will play in the state semifinals against Perrysburg in Akron on Thursday.
According to head coach Tim Held, the team had to address its challenges in a team meeting in early May. “What do we have to do to win this game and get out of the region and get to the final four?” he said. The players took this to heart and turned everything around going into the postseason.
With only five returners from last year, this may not be Moeller’s most talented roster ever, but the players believe their bond sets them apart. “I feel like this team is the closest team we’ve had. We’re the most bonded team,” said Conner Cuozzo.
