Missouri State linebacker Jared Lloyd has experienced the ascent of the team’s football program firsthand. Despite having three different head coaches in five seasons, Lloyd has remained a key player for the Bears.
Lloyd’s Journey
Lloyd’s journey with Missouri State began in 2022 under head coach Bobby Petrino. When Petrino left the team, Lloyd continued to play under head coach Ryan Beard, who led the team to back-to-back winning seasons in 2024 and 2025.
In 2024, Lloyd suffered a season-ending leg injury in a motor vehicle accident. However, he was able to use a medical redshirt and continue playing for the team. Lloyd credits his teammates and coaches for their support during that time.
Lloyd’s Role on the Team
Lloyd is one of four players on the team who have been with the program for all five seasons. He is joined by running back Connor Lair, safety J.J. O’Neal, and receiver Jmariyae Robinson. Lloyd is known for his hard-nosed playing style and has been a leader on the team.
Under new head coach Casey Woods, Lloyd is expected to continue playing a key role for the Bears. Woods believes that the team’s linebacker group, which includes Lloyd, is one of the most athletic positions on defense.
