Skywatchers in Alpine, Wyoming had a busy weekend, with the northern lights on Friday night and copious fireworks on the Fourth of July. Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer caught a special sight on Saturday night from the Palisades reservoir: the Milky Way shining over the water, paired with a fireworks display.
Fireworks displays, both official and illegal, were frequent over the holiday weekend. Sulzer noted that Palisades pyrotechnics continued into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Stargazing is famously excellent in this part of Wyoming. Seeing the Milky Way is always a treat.
