Mission Local is a local news outlet that has been serving the community since 1998. The team consists of experienced journalists, including Aaliyah, a reporting intern who studies Political Science, Communication, and Film at the University of California, Davis, and Hamza, a passionate soccer fan who graduated from UC Berkeley and has worked for KALW and KRON4.

About the Team

Aaliyah was born in the Mission and raised in SoMa, and hopes to cover the stories of hidden communities and the intersectionalities of culture in SF. Hamza is from Egypt and has a background in radio and digital production. Lydia Chávez, the founder and editor of Mission Local, has been trying to figure out how to make local news sustainable and has been working to make the content better with the support of readers.
