The first recipients of the Max Martin Memorial Scholarship have been announced. Neve Hudacsko, Olin Hugo, and Zachary Lighthart will receive full tuition to Jackson Hole Community School and funding to cover competitive and training costs with the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club (JHSC).
Scholarship Established in Memory of Max Martin
The scholarship was established with an initial $200,000 from the Balyasny family after the loss of local skier and friend, Max Martin, in a skiing accident in January. The ideal candidate is a passionate skier, dedicated student, driven individual, and person of character — embodying positivity, kindness, and humility.
Hudacsko, an alpine skier, is lauded for both her strength as a competitor and maturity. Hugo, a Nordic skier, is described as leading with kindness, inclusion, and genuine enthusiasm. Lighthart, who also participates in alpine skiing, is known for his humility, dedication, and work ethic as a skier and student.
Together, Neve, Olin, and Zachary represent the spirit of the Max Martin Memorial Scholarship. They are talented student-athletes, but more importantly, they are thoughtful young people who lead with character.
