The Apgar Family Water Plaza in Marshalltown, Iowa, has reopened after a temporary closure due to vandalism. The splash pad, which is the newest addition to the city’s park system, was closed on Monday after an act of vandalism was discovered.
Leaders of Splash 4 Life, the non-profit behind the splash pad, are urging the city council to address the issue. "I don’t mean to sound harsh, but please identify the vandals, give a citation, and assess penalties," said Leigh Bauder, co-founder of Splash 4 Life. "If we want a better tomorrow for Marshalltown, we must step up and take care of our city now, including the newest addition to our parks system."
Marshalltown officials are asking anyone who sees suspicious activity to report it to the police. The city is working to prevent future incidents of vandalism and to ensure that the splash pad remains a safe and enjoyable space for families and children.
