A Marked Tree police officer died in a wreck on Sunday. Officer Trevor Howard, 25, died of injuries he sustained in the collision. Another officer, Anthony Johnson, 22, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The wreck occurred at the intersection of Broadway and Nathan streets at approximately 2:50 a.m. A 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Kareem Jones, 28, of Marked Tree, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the officers’ vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Jones was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis for treatment of serious injuries. The Arkansas State Police are investigating the wreck.
