Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the beloved actor who played Theodore Huxtable on the popular 1980s sitcom ‘The Cosby Show’, died tragically one year ago in a drowning accident while vacationing in Costa Rica. His widow, Tenisha Warner, has filed a lawsuit against his mother, Pamela Warner, who oversees his trust, seeking more than $1.2 million in what she says are owed funds.
Lawsuit Details
The suit was filed in DeKalb County Superior Court in Decatur, Georgia, and alleges that Malcolm-Jamal Warner failed to purchase and maintain a term life insurance policy on his life, naming his wife as the beneficiary, as agreed upon. The lawsuit also claims that he failed to make an agreed upon payment to his wife of $16,000 per year on their marriage anniversaries, and did not maintain a Roth Individual Retirement Account for her with the maximum contribution per year.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that Malcolm-Jamal Warner did not pay his wife a promised salary of $5,000 per month for acting as his chief of staff, amounting to $195,000. The total amount due and owing to Tenisha Warner under the agreement is said to be at least $1,276,042.46, together with prejudgment and post-judgment interest and attorney’s fees and costs recoverable under the agreement.
