The City of Colorado Springs is preparing to celebrate the state’s 150th birthday next month with all-day festivities on Aug. 1, known as ‘Colorado Day’. The celebration will feature various events across the city, starting with a sunrise opening at the top of Pikes Peak.
Events and Activities
The first event of the day will begin at the top of Pikes Peak for a sunrise opening, followed by an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for ‘most people dunking donuts into coffee simultaneously’ at the Summit Visitor Center. The Pioneers Museum will also host a free Colorado Day event with live music, food trucks, and birthday cake, as well as the opening of a new exhibit, Freedom to Thrive: The American Experiment in Colorado Springs.
The day will conclude with live music and local foods at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, featuring six live bands, local artisan vendors, and interactive historic experiences. Tickets for the event are available on Rock Ledge Ranch’s website, with prices ranging from $5 to $25.
