• Panda, an abused dog who suffered severe neck injuries from a shock collar, required a year of intensive care. The dog later ingested a sock, creating a blockage that now demands emergency surgery estimated between $8,000 and $11,000.
• Zosmie, a kitten found in heavy rain, arrived in critical condition and needed immediate medical attention to survive.
• An unnamed black cat was discovered with multiple open flesh wounds across its back, also requiring urgent veterinary care.

These cases, while reflecting the shelter’s commitment to a no‑kill policy, have left the organization with little cash left for routine expenses such as utilities, food, and basic animal care.

Past challenges and current appeal

The shelter previously endured a devastating flood in the summer of 2025 after a broken pipe flooded the facility. That incident required extensive repairs and further strained the nonprofit’s finances.

Now, the rescue is urging the community to act quickly. “We simply cannot keep taking in critical cases when our medical bills are mounting, donations are not keeping up,” the shelter wrote. “We are dipping into the funds that are supposed to keep the lights on, the doors open, food in bowls, and a roof over the heads of the animals already depending on us just to pay emergency veterinary bills.”
