Long Beach police announced Thursday that detectives seized a cache of 30 illegal firearms from a residence on East 23rd Street. The operation was part of an ongoing effort to curb the possession and sale of unlawful weapons in the city.
Arrest and charges
Authorities arrested 34‑year‑old Roger Alexander Triplett after a search warrant revealed he was allegedly assembling firearms from parts purchased online and selling the weapons without a license. Triplett is being held without bail and faces multiple charges, including felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, illegal import of a short‑barreled rifle, illegal possession of a semi‑automatic rifle, possession of a firearm silencer, sale of large‑capacity magazines, illegal firearm sales, criminal storage of a firearm, violent felon in possession of body armor, child endangerment, and animal‑care violations.
Weapons and equipment recovered
During the search, detectives recovered 17 rifles and 15 handguns, along with more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition. Body armor was also seized. Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish said the weapons “cannot be used to harm or victimize our community” and praised the detectives for removing the threat.
