Lois Frankel wins Democratic primary, Deborah Adeimy secures GOP nod in Florida’s 23rd District

Following a mid‑decade redistricting that reshaped Florida’s congressional map, incumbent U.S. Representative Lois Frankel moved from the newly drawn 22nd District to the 23rd District, which encompasses much of Palm Beach County. On Tuesday night, Frankel secured the Democratic nomination with a decisive margin, earning more than 42,000 votes — over 74% of the total ballots cast.

Frankel’s nearest challenger, Victoria Doyle, received just over 13,000 votes, while third‑place candidate Mark Piper garnered a little more than 1,000 votes. In her victory statement, Frankel thanked family, friends, volunteers and supporters, emphasizing a campaign that “spans generations” and reflects the diverse communities of Palm Beach County. She reiterated her commitment to protecting Social Security and Medicare, lowering everyday costs for families and seniors, and defending voting rights against what she described as “dangerous attacks” by former President Donald Trump.

Republican primary results

On the Republican side, Deborah Adeimy emerged as the clear winner, capturing more than 20,000 votes, or 73.7% of the GOP primary total. The Republican Party of Florida praised Adeimy as a “strong conservative ready to bring America First principles to Washington and fight for Florida.” Paola Branda finished second with just over 7,000 votes, representing roughly 26% of the Republican field.

Both candidates will face each other in the general election scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3. The race is expected to focus on issues such as affordable housing, healthcare costs, and the protection of democratic institutions.

What’s at stake

The 23rd District, newly configured after the state’s redistricting process, includes a mix of suburban and coastal communities that have historically leaned Democratic but now feature a more competitive partisan balance. Voters will decide whether the district continues with Frankel’s centrist, Democratic approach or shifts to Adeimy’s conservative platform that emphasizes limited government, lower taxes, and a strong national defense.

Local officials and community leaders have urged residents to participate in the upcoming November election, noting that the outcome will influence not only federal representation but also the district’s ability to secure federal resources for infrastructure, disaster relief, and economic development projects.
