The city of Las Vegas, New Mexico, has entered stage 3 water conservation as restrictions take effect immediately to protect the community’s water supply.
Restrictions and Guidelines
The conservation stage, which became effective Tuesday, July 28, includes mandatory limits on outdoor irrigation, vehicle washing, swimming pool refills, and other nonessential water use. Landscape irrigation is limited to one day per week based on street address, with properties with even-numbered addresses allowed to irrigate on Wednesdays and those with odd-numbered addresses on Thursdays. Watering is only permitted from 6 to 7 a.m. or 8 to 9 p.m.
Vehicle washing is only allowed at commercial businesses that use recycled water, while refilling or adding water to swimming pools is prohibited, except for covered swimming pools owned by the city of Las Vegas or Highlands University. Restaurants are also required to conserve water by serving drinking water only when customers specifically request it.
