The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is warning drivers of Kia and Hyundai vehicles in southwestern Colorado to be aware of increased car thefts.
Reason for Thefts
The Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority says these two brands, especially in models that use a physical key to work, have seen increased thefts in the area. CSP says the cars are then used to commit crimes and travel across jurisdictions.
New trends show the cars continue to be theft targets statewide, but indicate higher rates in the southwestern parts of the state. CSP says it is working with programs to continue to investigate the thefts through multi-agency task forces.
Officials provided some tips to prevent cars from being stolen.
