The Johnson County Post is hosting a live, in-person forum featuring three candidates vying to be chair of the Board of County Commissioners. This is a nonpartisan race, and the top two vote-getters on Aug. 4 will advance to November’s general election.
Candidates and Event Details
All three candidates on the primary ballot — incumbent Chair Mike Kelly and two challengers, Karen Crnkovich and Gene Senesac — have agreed to participate. The forum is expected to last approximately an hour and will be held at a location to be announced.
These events work best when voters show up and ask questions and participate in the democratic process. Residents can RSVP by telling us on our Facebook page or by emailing us directly at [email protected]. An RSVP is not required, but it does help us anticipate how many people to expect.
The event will also be livestreamed on the Post’s Facebook page and archived there so readers can watch at any point leading up to Aug. 4. We also need to hear from you. Oftentimes, residents know their communities’ and institutions’ big issues much better than we do.
What issues and priorities do you want Johnson County chair candidates talking about? What questions do you want them to answer on the record? Send us your questions and comments by emailing us at [email protected].
