Jefferson County Public Schools has appointed Nathan Balasubramanian as its new chief academic officer. Superintendent Brian Yearwood made the announcement on Wednesday.
Background and Experience
Balasubramanian has over 30 years of experience in leading pre-k through 12th-grade educational systems. He has worked as a teacher and executive cabinet leader. Most recently, he was the president and CEO of iLearn, LLC, where he advised school boards and executive teams across the country on building sustainable accountability systems and closing achievement gaps.
Prior to that, he served as the executive director of strategy and continuous improvement at Broward County Public Schools in Florida, which served more than 270,000 students.
Balasubramanian expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I’m humbled and honored to join Jefferson County Public Schools and serve its students, families, educators, and community. I look forward to working alongside teachers, principals, assistant superintendents, district leaders, and community partners to ensure every JCPS student has the opportunity to think, learn, grow, and thrive.”
