Irving Residents Encouraged to ‘Toss Like A Boss’ with Local Recycling Guidelines

Residents of Irving, Texas are encouraged to participate in the city’s recycling program by following the ‘Toss Like A Boss’ guidelines. This initiative aims to promote effective recycling practices within the community, ensuring that recyclable materials are properly sorted and processed.

Accepted Recyclables

The city accepts a variety of materials for recycling, including aluminum and steel food cans, corrugated cardboard, glass bottles and jars, and various types of paper such as catalogs, magazines, and newspapers. Plastic containers numbered 1-4, 5, and 7 are also accepted, with certain exceptions noted for plastic number 4 items.

Items Not Accepted

Residents should be aware that certain items are not accepted in the recycling program. These include aerosol cans, containers that previously held hazardous materials, light bulbs, mirrors, and plastic number 6. Additionally, plastic grocery, produce, and frozen food bags, as well as soiled food cartons and Styrofoam, are not recyclable through the city’s program.
