Iowa African Film Festival Underway

The first Iowa African Film Festival is underway at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Organizers said the two-day event is designed to celebrate African filmmakers and bring their work to a broader audience. The films being shown were selected from hundreds of submissions across more than 54 countries.

Festival Details

According to Jack Chimbetete, festival director, the stories showcased at the film festival provide a full perspective of African culture, innovation, and stories. In addition to film screenings, the festival includes question-and-answer sessions and panel discussions. The Iowa African Film Festival will continue through Friday.
