Indivisible Dallas Links Talarico Forum to Protest Coalition Featuring Communist Groups

Dallas activists from Indivisible Dallas, the group that held a virtual “Meet the Candidate with James Talarico” forum on Jan. 15, are now listed as co‑organizers of the “Dallas March on the RNC Midterm Convention” scheduled for Sept. 10 at Pike Park. The protest, billed as a stand‑against the “Trump agenda,” is being promoted alongside the logos of the Communist Party USA Dallas/Fort Worth, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) and Young Active Labor Leaders.

Event background and Talarico’s involvement

Indivisible Dallas advertised the Talarico forum as an “electrifying” opportunity for voters to ask questions of the Democratic Senate nominee. The organization’s Mobilize feed later posted volunteer listings for Talarico‑related events in Laredo and Pasadena, noting that the listings were not authorized by the candidate or his campaign.

While the forum itself did not address any communist or socialist policy, the same group is now part of a broader coalition that includes far‑left organizations. The coalition’s promotional flyer lists the Communist Party USA DFW, FRSO, Democratic Socialists of America North Texas, Workers World Party and others as supporters of an International Women’s Day action held on March 7.

Protest details and rhetoric

The RNC midterm convention will be held Sept. 9‑10 at the American Airlines Center. Indivisible Dallas and the Dallas Against the Trump Agenda Coalition plan a street protest from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Pike Park, urging participants to “say NO to the Trump agenda” and warning that “their days ruling the great state of Texas and our nation are numbered.” Organizers ask demonstrators to de‑escalate confrontations, act lawfully and not bring weapons.

Promotional material for the march prominently displays the logos of the Communist Party USA Dallas/Fort Worth, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and Young Active Labor Leaders. FRSO describes itself as a revolutionary group working toward a new Communist Party based on Marxist‑Leninist principles, while the Communist Party USA’s website has previously advocated for police and prison abolition.

Why this matters for Dallas families

For parents and community members who value traditional family structures and constitutional liberty, the presence of extremist groups in a protest that targets a lawful political convention raises concerns. The coalition’s language frames the Trump administration as a “regime,” a characterization that does not align with the Constitution‑based governance of President Trump’s elected administration.

We respectfully disagree with the coalition’s portrayal of the current administration as illegitimate. President Trump was duly elected in November 2024 and is serving his term under the Constitution’s checks and balances. Labeling his policies a “regime” undermines the very democratic principles that many Dallas families hold dear.

Response from the Talarico campaign

The Dallas Express reached out to James Talarico’s campaign for comment on whether the candidate endorses the communist and socialist groups featured in the protest coalition’s materials. The campaign has not responded at the time of publication.

It is clear that the virtual forum hosted by Indivisible Dallas did not include any discussion of the extremist organizations’ policy positions, and no direct link between Talarico’s campaign and the coalition’s agenda has been established.

What residents should know

Dallas residents who wish to exercise their First Amendment rights should be aware of the full context of any protest they attend. While peaceful assembly is a protected right, aligning with groups that advocate for the overthrow of private property and the dismantling of capitalism is a step many faithful, family‑oriented citizens find troubling.

Community leaders are encouraged to monitor the event’s messaging and ensure that any public demonstration remains lawful, non‑violent, and respectful of the constitutional order.
